Wrong Way Crash Causes 2 Fatalities in Fair Oaks, Driver Arrested on DUI Charges
Drunk driving is a widespread public safety issue that continues to take the lives of far too many Americans each year. It was reported that almost 10,000 lives were lost in 2014 due to alcohol-impaired auto accidents. This unsettling rate sheds light on the dangers associated with drunk driving.
Earlier this week, the lives of two motorcyclists were tragically taken due to the carelessness of an intoxicated motorist in Northern California.
The victims, both riding on a motorcycle, were traveling on Madison Avenue near Lincoln Oaks when the drunk driver entered the wrong lane and proceeded to hit them. Immediately following the accident, the car and motorcycle went up in flames. The driver was able to escape his vehicle, while the motorcyclists were pronounced dead at the scene.

At Del Rio & Carichoff, we urge all California residents to make smart decisions when getting behind the wheel. Never put your life or the lives of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians around you at risk.
If you get behind the wheel of any type of vehicle, do it sober. If you have any alcoholic beverages, do not drive. It's that simple. Below are some safe options to help you get home if you plan on drinking:
-Taxi services. Whether it be a local Sacramento taxi company or through mobile apps
such as Lyft or Uber
-Public Transportation. There are several bus and train lines in Sacramento to assist you in getting to your desired location.
-Designate a driver. If going out with a group of friends, plan in advance for a friend to stick to nonalcoholic beverages.
