Sacramento Drunk Driver Causes Fatal Car Accident
A Sacramento driver is facing serious criminal charges for his role in a fatal two-car accident. Traffic accidents involving drunk drivers are preventable tragedies, and at Del Rio & Carichoff, Sacramento Car Accident law firm, we have seen far too many innocent motorists pay the ultimate price for the reckless and criminal behavior of intoxicated drivers.
The accident took place on Highway 99 at approximately 4am on Saturday. According to California Highway Patrol officers, the drunk driver rear ended another vehicle on the road before losing control of his car. The resulting accident left two people injured and one dead.
To make matters worse, the drunk driver attempted to flee the scene of the accident on foot and did not attempt to help or contact authorities. Police apprehended the driver a short time later, and he is now facing several serious criminal charges for his behavior, including vehicular manslaughter, felony hit-and-run, and felony driving under the influence.
Unfortunately, as we approach the Holiday Season, incidents involving drunk drivers become more common.
According to the National Safety Council, traffic deaths that occur around Thanksgiving day can account for nearly 15% of all vehicle-related fatalities during the month of November.
