Sacramento Police Seeking Information Related to Pedestrian Hit-And-Run
Sacramento Police are asking the community for more information relating to a pedestrian hit-and-run accident that took place this past Friday night. Police say that some time during the evening of Friday, January 23rd, a pedestrian was struck by a car while walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of Arcade Boulevard and Palmer Street near Del Paso Boulevard.
Police are seeking any leads related to the driver who fled the scene after striking the 44-year-old pedestrian, but they are also looking for help in identifying the victim. Police and witnesses both say the victim did not have any ID on her at the time of the accident. The woman is reported to have been immediately taken to a local hospital after suffering severe head injuries and several broken bones.
According to debris found at the scene, Police believe the car in question is a dark gray Ford Taurus made between 2000 and 2004. If you have any information related to this crime, call the Sacramento Police Department Tip Line at 1-800-AA-CRIME.
Residents expressed concern that this particular section of Arcade Boulevard is especially dangerous for both motorists and pedestrians. Neighbors that live in the area regularly report traffic crashes on this stretch of road, and maintain that drivers consistently exceed the posted 35mph speed limit. This constant violation of posted traffic regulations, coupled with the fact that the victim was walking on the sidewalk at the time of the accident, make this incident particularly concerning.
